One laser, two wavelengths, every skin tone.

The Candela GentleMax Pro pairs a 755 nm Alexandrite with a 1064 nm Nd:YAG and cools the skin with a cryogen burst a fraction of a second before each pulse. That is what makes it safe on deeper skin tones and bearable on the areas people dread.

How the treatment works

Cryogen cooling versus air cooling

Both are ways of protecting the skin while the laser works. They are not equivalent, and the difference shows up most on the areas people find hardest and on deeper skin tones.

Criterion	Cryogen — what we use	Air cooling
Comfort	A burst of cryogen cools the skin a fraction of a second before each pulse lands.	Chilled air is blown across the area throughout the treatment.
Energy delivered	Higher settings stay tolerable, so each pass does more of the work.	Settings are often dialled down to keep the session bearable.
Deeper skin tones	The 1064 nm Nd:YAG passes below surface pigment while the cryogen protects the skin above it.	Depends far more on the operator's judgement of the settings.

Why six

Hair grows in cycles. The laser only catches it in one of them.

Only the hairs actively growing on the day of your session respond to the laser. The rest are dormant, and no setting reaches them. That is why one session never finishes the job — and why six is priced as the obvious choice. It is the clinical minimum, not an upsell.

Your first visit

A patch test, a look at your skin and hair type, and the settings we will use. Nothing is treated until you have agreed to the plan.

A session

How long it takes depends on the size of the area. Most people describe each pulse as a warm snap rather than pain.

Afterwards

Mild redness around the follicles for a few hours, then back to your day. No downtime and no bandages.
